Get Started

Church Matters.

We envision churches as robust communities walking together in the way of Jesus, in which all members are received as gifts and are cared for, embodying a hopeful alternative to the despair of our culture.

Learning Journey

The Cultivating Communities Learning Journey is created in collaboration between our team and a group from your congregation – we begin with your church’s story, gifts, and desires.

Then, through ongoing connection and conversation, we help your church develop capacity for rich formation, depth of relationship, community development, and robust witness in your place– even in the midst of questions, disagreements, or transition.

This initiative invites churches to journey with us and recognize that through God’s presence among us, we’re empowered to bear witness to a hopeful and contrasting way of life together.

Cultivating Communities Substack

On Substack, we share stories and reflections on theology and practice. Here, a community of writers, readers, and church leaders explore questions like: What does it mean to be deeply rooted? What does our place have to teach us about God and neighbor? What is the impact of our reading on our formation and mission? What role is the church meant to play in our world?

Community Development

As part of the Englewood Community Development Corporation, we desire to see churches contribute meaningfully and holistically to the flourishing of their neighborhoods. We are committed partners and leaders in a variety of place-based, comprehensive community development initiatives. This work began out of a deep love and commitment to our Indianapolis neighborhood, and now we work with churches to discern community development initiatives in their place.
